This 1960s split-level has a new Family Room addition in front of the existing home, with a total gut remodel of the existing Kitchen/Living/Dining spaces. The spacious Kitchen boasts a generous curved stone-clad island and plenty of custom cabinetry. The Kitchen opens to a large eat-in Dining Room, with a walk-around stone double-sided fireplace between Dining and the new Family room. The stone accent at the island, gorgeous stained wood cabinetry, and wood trim highlight the rustic charm of this home.

In this NYC pied-à-terre new build for empty nesters, architectural details, strategic lighting, dramatic wallpapers, and bespoke furnishings converge to offer an exquisite space for entertaining and relaxation.
This open-concept living/dining space features a soothing neutral palette that sets the tone, complemented by statement lighting and thoughtfully selected comfortable furniture. This harmonious design creates an inviting atmosphere for both relaxation and stylish entertaining.

The dining room features a stunning banquette wall with padded leather panels, each held by wide leather straps for a handcrafted touch. A large metal Tree of Life sculpture spreads across the wall, brought to life by color-changing LED backlighting that sets a warm, ever-shifting ambiance. The ceiling features a rusted metal tile pattern, designed as a wallcovering to mimic the look of aged industrial ceilings. With rich tones of bronze, sienna, and charcoal, it adds texture and depth overhead while maintaining a lightweight, low-maintenance finish. The vintage-inspired grid brings a bold, urban edge that completes the restaurant’s industrial vibe.

I upholstered the chairs in Lee Jofa wool and purchased an antique hand embroidered kimono, then deconstructed to create the back panels to these dining room chairs. I believe that levity is an element that should exist in every home. In this instance, the Murano handblown glass Cranes are caught mid-migration walking across the deco dining room table.

We touched every corner of the main level of the historic 1903 Dutch Colonial. True to our nature, Storie edited the existing residence by redoing some of the work that had been completed in the early 2000s, kept the historic moldings/flooring/handrails, and added new (and timeless) wainscoting/wallpaper/paint/furnishings to modernize yet honor the traditional nature of the home.
