“I was in the process of updating my kitchen and a few other areas of my house, and though I knew what I had in mind I just needed that extra inspiration to make sure I got it right the first time! I had heard about Emma through the grapevine and decided to ask for her help. She was so friendly and helpful to deal with and totally understood what I wanted. With her expertise she sourced beautiful products that I would never have been able to find myself and made me look outside the square with colour choices and textures. What I also loved was that some of the things I originally wanted to change she made me look at in a new light and realise that with some smaller subtle changes I didn't actually have to change as much as I thought, which much to my husbands delight was a cost saving. I certainly could not have achieved the same results on my own without her inspiration, or had the choice of so many product options, which made all the difference in the world and added so much more value to our house. Emma is a true professional, with a great sense of style, who provides an awesome service. She is so friendly, competent and up to date with what is happening in the design field. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to family and friends and have indeed done so. She will certainly be my go to person from now on for whatever I am doing in my own home. “In 2009 I purchased a 2 bedroom 30 year old Brick and Tile house north facing on the shores of the Panmure Lagoon. Unbeknownst to me at the time it had won house of the year when constructed all those years before! After living, (and as you do planning), in it a few years, I engaged Alpha 1 Builders carry out the extensive renovations which incorporated ; opening the house out, create two new levels and completely upgrade the house and fittings. All that was left after one week were the external walls. Wrapped in plastic the work began in earnest. Paul's attention to detail and planning meant the build was completed on time and on budget. Of course things changed during the build as they do, but this was made easy by the professional and trademan like care taken by all his staff. Alterations by myself to the original specifications were costed and approved before work was carried out so I never felt concern that the project was running away on me. When Paul suggested that he enter it in house of the year I was enthusiastic and then overjoyed to receive a gold medal. The finished product is a 4 Bedroom easy flowing house with three bathrooms, an enormous rumpus/theater room and open plan Kitchen/Dining and lounge area, opening onto a sweeping sun-drenched deck that displays unobstructed views of the water. Now after three years of living in our house we still enjoy it everyday and find it works well and flows naturally. It's not unusual to sit on one of the superb north facing decks sipping a Flat White gazing out over the waters and pondering the choice of going to work or,,, having another!”

What kind of builder do you need?


Apart from finding a builder who is reliable and local to you, there’s a few other things you want to consider. If you’re after a prefab home design, a design and construction company may be the better choice. If you’re doing small general renovation works like installing doors or floors, a general builder will be sufficient.
